The 38th Annual General Meeting of Meghalaya Pensioners’ Association held

Shillong, Nov 15: The 38th Annual General Meeting of the Meghalaya Pensioners’ Association (MPA) was held here today at the Seminar Hall, State Central Library, Shillong which was attended by B K Dev Verma, IAS (Retd), Chairman, Food Commission, Govt of Meghalaya as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest, B K Dev Verma said that the government pensioners form a huge resource of the manpower who through their years of knowledge and experience can contribute towards nation building. He added that it is therefore important to maintain a close link and contact with the pensioners.

The Chief Guest also enlightened the gathering with a number of State and Central government initiatives for the pensioners to ease the grievances in pension sanction and payment to the pension holders.  He further suggested that MPA come up with a website with the help of the State government for the benefit of all pension holders. He added that holding of Pension Adalats from time to time would also address pension grievances to a considerable extent.

The MPA also presented the Annual Report and extended its gratitude to the State government for enhancing the Medical Allowance of the pensioners and also for extending the Winter Allowance to the pensioners in the 5th Pay Commission.

Among others who spoke during the meeting were M Syrti, Vice President, G W Syngai, General Secretary, T Diengdoh, Vice President and T D Khonglah, Working President who chaired the meeting.
