The BSF caught three Indian cattle smugglers along with vehicle at Mukamchera, EKH District

Shillong, June 29: The BSF troops deployed at Mukamchera, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya observed a Bolero Pickup bearing No. ML-05-P-1529  near International Border on intervening night of 28/29th June’2018. The BSF party stopped the vehicle and nabbed three Indian cattle smugglers with 04 nos  cattle on International Border while being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

The cattle smugglers were identified Meban Myniew (21 yrs) S/o Pynshai Myniew,  Bahattuh Dkhar (22 yrs) S/o Spidarkynter and  Hynbien (20 yrs) S/o Sabin Pariat all are r/o Vill- Lawbab Mawsynram, Distt- East Khasi Hills (Megh). The BSF also seized the Bolero Pickup in which cattle were laden by smugglers.

It is worth mentioning here that carrying the cattle in such a small vehicle is cruelty against the animals. Prices of cattle have gone up in recent months after BSF checked the illegal supply channels to Bangladesh, and continuously been in its drive against the Cattle smugglers. The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent trans-border crimes.

In another incident the troops of BSF deployed at Tuka, Nayabazar, Umsiyem, Muktapur, all of East Khasi Hills district and OP Shella of East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya, seized more than 50 Nos cattle while being smuggled out to Bangladesh from India. The smugglers managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness and dense bushes. Smugglers are using different disguised techniques to smuggle the cattle from India to Bangladesh but BSF troops are frequently foiling such attempts of smugglers.

In addition the BSF troops seized 170 Nos Cattle, worth more than 33 lacs, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the International Border along Meghalaya during last week. After continuous anti -smuggling drive and putting extra vigil on the border, BSF has been achieving a great success in countering the cattle smuggling and apprehension of smugglers. Apprehended persons and seized items handed over to concern department for further legal action.
