Shillong, July 14: The troops of Border Security Force foiled the attempt of smugglers, as the vigilant troops apprehended one Bangladeshi national on International Border. The BSF troops deployed at Latangtilla, West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya observed two persons carrying with some packets and move towards India from Bangladesh near zeroline.
The watchful BSF troops challenged the suspected smugglers. The BSF party rush towards the point and apprehended one Bangladeshi alongwith 90 Kg Fish appx value more than Rs. 1 Lac while being smuggled from Bangladesh to Indian territory and another Bangladeshi fled away towards Bangladesh taking advantage of dense forest and undulling ground . The Bangladeshi later identified as Das, permanent address resident of Angarua village Sunamganj District of Bangladesh and his present address is Chandrimatin village of Subit Bazar.
In another incident, the BSF troops deployed at Baldamgiri, South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya seized 3 Kg Ganja while being smuggled to Bangladesh. A BSF patrol party observed the suspicious movement of suspected person in the nearby International Border. When the BSF party challenged, he fled, taking advantage of darkness. The party rushed towards the area and after a thorough search of the area, one packet wrapped in a plastic containing 3 kgs of Ganja recovered.
Cattle smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya seems getting rampant, despite the Border Security Force foiling these attempts effectively. But the never-ending demand from Bangladesh keeps fueling the illegal act. The BSF troops once again showing constant alertness on Indo-Bangladesh border, seized a huge number of cattle i.e. 70 Nos worth more than Rs. 12 lacs in the area of Nayabazar, Pyrdwaha, Umsiyem, East Khasi Hills district , Muktapur, West Jaintia Hills and Patharghat, Rasnagiri, South West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. These cattle being smuggle to Bangladesh.
