Shillong, August 01: The Border Security Force Meghalaya Frontier has been undertaking several initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Besides guarding the border of the country, the troops deployed at first line of defence also coming forward to contribute in the nationwide cleanliness drive and has initiated several cleanliness programmes in the state of Meghalaya. It has been one of the key CAPF which is taking initiative to clean tourists’ places near border areas as these places are frequently witnessed by several tourists throughout the year.
In a joint effort to keep our environment clean Border security force now joined hands with different stakeholders in cleanliness drive at border areas. Sh L. Mohanti, IPS Inspector General Meghalaya Frontier BSF, Officers, Sub-Ordinate Officers and troops of BSF alongwith local border populations and media reepersentatives from all over Meghalaya conducted a ‘Joint Swacchata Abhiyan’ at ICP Dawki, Boating point, Borhills and Living Root Bridge, Re-Wai on the 31st July 2018. Ladywives also joined their hands in the cleanliness drive.
At about 1230 hrs, after conducting cleanliness drive, a facilitation ceremony was conducted at Living Root Bridge, Re-Wai. During this programme, some local personwere facilitated in recognition to their efforts in keeping their respective areas clean. Later dustbins were also presented at different places by BSF. A display of BSF Films documentaries also done for the gatherings at Re-Wai. Dog Show by trained BSF dogs entertained the local and visitors by their skills and various drills. BSF brass band added colours with some melodious tuned to this programme.
Shri U K Nayal, DIG/PRO is nominated as nodal officer for this campaign (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan), for Border Security Force Meghalaya said ‘‘More such programmes will be conducted in coming days’’
