The Cabinet today takes the decision to reduce MLA salaries by eight thousand: Dr Mukul

Dr Mukul and MM DanggoShillong, October 11: The Cabinet today takes the decision to reduce the salary of the MLAs of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly by Rs.8000 from the existing total emolument of Rs.2.10 lakh. The MLA now they will get their pay of Rs.2.2000 lakh.

Speaking to media after the Cabinet meeting the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that the decision was taken to avoid increased the salary of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and ministers. If the MLAs draw the salary of Rs.2.10 lakh then the government has to increase the salary of the Ministers to avoid this cabinet has decided to reduce the salary of the MLAs.

The Cabinet has also added new clauses in the services rules of the department Land Record and survey, the new rule are, that candidate will have the capability to work on foot for 5 KM in 45 minit and should have good eyesight and know the telescopic mapping.

The Cabinet also adopted the regulation energy conservation Act 2001, with this adoption all government building has to replace with the electrical equipment that will reduce consumption of electricity and at the same time will conserved use of energy, thus the state of Meghalaya is joining with the rest of the world in fighting climate change.

The Government will notified the electrical items that   will be allowed for sale in the market, only thus items that is in conformity with the notification issued by the central government and  adopted by the state government will be allowed for sale. Only thus electrical items used for agricultural purposes will be excluded.
