The dues that the MeECL that has to pay NEEPCO for power supply is six hundred Cores

Shillong, May 10: Meghalaya Power minister Mr James K Sangma said that the dues that the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) that has to pay to North Eastern Electrical Power Company Corporation  (NEEPCO) for power supply is Six Hundred Cores this has been accumulated for many years.

Mr James told media person that, NEEPCO has regulated the supply of power to Meghalaya this led to the power load shedding in Meghalaya; the government is trying its best to reduce the power load shedding by taking up with the corporation.

On the allegation that power load shedding is more in the rural areas than in the urban, the power minister said that, the load shedding is done base on the density of consumers, the population in the rural area   is less compare to the urban areas which have more consumers.

Power Minister acknowledge the hardship face by the public that arise from the load shedding, the government is trying its best to fine out long and short terms solution on this problems faces by the people of the state.

On the question of the private company that was sign the MoU with the state government for setting up power generation in Meghalaya, power minister said that to construct one power generation it take a lot of time just to get clearance from all concern authorities that it why it take time, he also inform that there are also who do not turn up after sign the MoU.
