Shillong, July 29: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) today called all the ruling MLAs who are the government but none of the MLA turned out in this meeting that they have arranged at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall Mawkhar. The purpose of calling the MLAs who are in the ruling is to know from them what their stand on the Inner Line Permit.
Speaking to media person, the president of the HYC Mr Peter Lawai, said that since the MLAs who are in the ruling no one has turned out in the meeting, the organization decided that they will organized protest in all the ruling MLAs constituencies, and this agitation that they are going to launched will be known as “Save Hynniewtrep Mission”.
Mr Lawai said that from the organization they have sent their invitation letter to all the MLA who are in the ruling it not that they have not sent them invitation, and from the opposition MLA, the HSPDP, the UDP, KHNAM they have inform that they are in line with what they HYC demand but they required more time before meeting with them.
From the National People’s Party they have inform that the party will meet on Tuesday to discuss on the issued raised by the HYC. The Congress, the BJP and the NCP till date they have not say anything on their letter. The organization will not wait till the state government to implement the ILP but soon they will come out with the concept paper on haw to implement the ILP to protect influx.
The General Secretary of the HYC Mr Robert K Jahrin, said that the organization has oppose the Meghalaya Safety and Security Bill which now has become an Act, right from the begging, the opposition to this Act is also Cleary mention in the report of the select committee by four MLAs, Dr Jemino Mawthoh, Mr Embhahlang Syimelieh, Mr Ardent M Basaiawmoit and Mr John Leslee K Sangma, where this MLA said that this Bill has nothing to do in checking influx.
The General Secretary of the HYC, Mr Robert said very clearly that the organization want that if the government could not implement the Eastern Bengal Regulation act 1873, the state government shall made it own state law in line with the ILP like what, the Congress Government has done in Manipur during the Chief Ministership of Ibobi Sing and the present BJP led Government is ready to implement ILP in the state.
The HYC make it clear that they are not against any body but what the organization want that our Khasi land should be protected from influx, it is not wrong to demand from the government to make law to protect from influx, the Hills state movement , the objective of it is to get our own state so that we can protect our self, said Mr Robert General Secretary.
