The NPP at the National Executive Committee Meeting resolved to oppose CAB

New Delhi, Dec 01: The National People’s Party (NPP) held its National Executive Committee Meeting at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, on Satuarday which was chaired by the National President and Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K. Sangma.

The National Executive Meeting was attended by members of the the party from different States, including Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya Prestone Tyngsong, Home Minister James K. Sangma, former Chief Minister DD Lapang and a host of other leaders of the party.

The party has adopted a resolution to continue to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 and has also discussed measures to strengthen the party ahead of council elections in the State of Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura.

“The party has unanimously resolved to oppose CAB and this is not just the resolution of the NPP but of the people of entire Northeast and all the State Government of Northeast and all the organisations.

The NPP thank to the Home Minister and Government of India for inviting political parties and diffierent organisations of the north east to discuss the matter and for taking certain steps and measures to safe guard the interest of the people of region. However, we strongly feel that more steps and measures will be required to protect the rights of the indigenous people of the region” said Conrad K. Sangma.

Leaders from different States of the Northeast including Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Assam expressed their sharp opposition against CAB during the meeting and said that the imposition of CAB in the Northeast will be against the aspirations of the people and will create problems and tensions in the region.The party remained firm on its stand against CAB and has adopted a resolution during the meeting to oppose the CAB in its present form.

The National Executive Meeting also discussed on measures to intensify enrolment drive in different States of the country, reach out to youth, propagate and motivate the people to be party of the people’s movement of NPP. The other issues discussed in the meeting were publication of a quarterly newsletter reform and to further intensify its communication network to promote the ideology and principles of the party.
