Maligaon, Oct 25: The Indian Railway’s Bogibeel Bridge is an iconic rail cum road bridge of India. N. F. Railway has used its land along the Brahmaputra River and in the back drop of the bridge for Eco tourism.
The Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH, Shri Anshul Gupta, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway held a meeting with senior officials of Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) and Government of Assam at the Bogibeel bridge site.
The meeting was envisaged to jointly develop multi modal logistic system for tourism and cargo utilising rail and waterways achieving objectives of Gati Shakti mission.
The General Manager of N. F. Railway along with the Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal visited the proposed projects site near Bogibeel Bridge and held a meeting with IWAI and Assam Government officials for speedy implementation of the works.
The Union Minister stated that the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Assam government, and the Northeast Frontier Railway are all working together to restore Dibrugarh’s lost glory as a major river port of India.
Various projects for speeding up cargo movement and to explore tourist potential at the bank of river Brahmaputra are being planned. This will facilitate to open up employment avenues for local youths and provide local produce to access global market easily. Facilities are likely to be ready in next 6 months.
