Shillong, April 25: 73 Battalion BSF located at Mawpat, Shillong organized a Health Awareness Workshop on “Hypertension and Heart releated problems” on 25 Apr 2014. The Workshop was conducted with the efforts of Dr A C Bhardwajan, Comdt(Medical), HQ Meghalaya Frontier, BSF and active support of Cardiologist from NEIGRIHMS, Shillong Dr Amit Malviya and Dr Praveen Jha. A large number of BSF Officers and jawans of Umpling and Mawpat campuses attended the workshop.
The awareness programme was also conducted for Hepatitis ‘B’ by Shri Bishwajit Barua and Shri Nipin Das, advisers from Bristol Myers Squibb India Pvt Ltd, Guwahati. During this health awareness camp 155 personnel were screened and 117 personnel were vaccinated.
The day long programme was inaugurated by Shri Mahendra Singh, Dy Inspector General, HQ Meghalaya Frontier, BSF who emphasized necessity of such workshops & programmes as there has been several cases where young BSF soldiers have lost their precious lieves due to cardiac arrest in the recent past.
The camp was concluded with the pledge that such programmes should be organized on regular basis.(SP News)
