Shillong, December 05: The Cabinet today has accepted the Voluntary Retired Schemes (VRS) for the fifteen employees of the Meghalaya Bamboo Chips Limited at the cost of Rs.6.48 cores. This includes all the salary and the pending wages of the employees.
The Chief Minister said that in his last budget speeches he had already said that all government units which is running at a lost will be done away with by offering VRS to the employees. He said that he (Dr Mukul) personally visit the unit located at Nongshram in East Garo Hills.
“ I has met the employees and discuss with them, the reason of winding out this unit is that, the unit cannot compete with others and there many others factors that led to the closer of this unit”.
