Shillong, May 02: The Government of Meghalaya has constituted the District Level Road Safety Committee in the eleven districts of the State to formulate and implement the Road Safety Schemes and measures with immediate effect and until further orders. This was informed by the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Transport Department.
The Deputy Commissioner will be the Chairman of the Committee with Members including the Superintendent of Police, Superintending Engineer/EE PWD (Roads), Associate Town Planner/District Urban Town Planner, Shillong, the District Medical & Health Officers, Inspector of Schools, Chief Executive Member, District Council or his representatives, Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Board and District Transport Officer as Member Secretary.
The Committee will meet at least once in six months and may invite any other experts in such relevant field as special invitees to the meeting of the Committee.
Further, the Commissioner and Secretary, Transport Department, Meghalaya has also informed that the Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department is included as member in the State Level Road Safety Council with immediate effect until further orders.
