DPMU of SWKH Distict organised workshop on best Practices for farmers held at Mawkyrwat

Mawkyrwat, May 11,2023: The office of the District Project Management Unit,South West Khasi Hills District today organized a Workshop on Best Practicesfor farmers with a view to increase the production and double the income of farmers.

The Workshop which was attended byfarmers within the district was held at theMultipurpose Hall,office of the Deputy Commissioner,South West Khasi Hills District.

The programme was organized with a view to improve the income of farmers and the quality of life in rural areas.The project aims at empowering villagers with knowledge and skill for sustainable natural resources management.

Planning and implementation of the plans for an increase productivity, providing an access to finance through financial institutions and credit linkage, formation of IVCS  and others which would benefit the farmers through  Meghalaya Livelihood & Access to  Market Projects (MegLAMP).

While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mayborn Diengdoh, Additional Deputy Commissioner,South West Khasi Hills District lauded the office for their keen initiativein making such a programme which would benefit farmers.

He said that each an every individual is a productive part of the society and has  a  lot to contribute towards the society . He said that this workshop serves as  a platform  or a cradle  where  we can exchange views, formulate ideas, chalked out  plans  and put them into best practices  with a hope  that under the guidance of Basin and  the  support from other departments.

The farmers  will  be taken a step forward  by urging them to utilize  every information that they received through this programme and to put  findings and ideas into practice .He appreciated their  presentation and inspired them to be an example for others .He also encouraged them to produce more with a hope to prosper and develop in future.

In her speech,Mrs Y.R.Mawlong, Additional Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills Districtsaid that this programme served as a forum where they can exchange their views,formulate ideas and put them into practices in order to increase their productivity.

She also laid great stresses on the need of unity in order to be able to solvetheir obstacles and difficulties. She also said that as farmers were the backbone of growth and development of an economy our quality life will not improve unless our farmers are strengthened, empowered with skills for sustainable natural resources management, and implementation for enhance productivity and economic growth.

Mr. M.Langte,General Secretary, Nongkdait-Nongtwah IVCS, Mr. Ricarius Nonglang, Facilitator Phlangdiloin IVCS, CMC,Mr. Khrawbor K.Kharai, Secretary Tiplang PG (FOCUS), Mr. Vesparwell Khardewsaw, Facilitator GF Keniong IVCS ,Mr Donborlang Nongsiej President Pyndensakwang VNRMC, CLLMP and Miss K. Hajong,ka Koraigora IVCS, Custom Hiring Centre. There was also an exhibit of the products on the same day.

 

There are 11 Awards on Best Practices was also given to 11 IVCS. There was also a Technical Session wherein there was a discussion betweenModerators and participants. Mr. Defineties Dkhar, AM, M&E MegLampchaired the function.

 

Earlier, Mrs. Munnie Shangpliang, DPM (MegLamp, MegLife, FOCUS) Mawkyrwat delivered the welcome address while Mr. John Keary Wanniang,DPM(CLLMP) Mawkyrwatoffered the vote of thanks.
