Shillong, June 19: The election to the lone seat to Rajya Sabha from Meghalaya was held today and counting was done at 5.00 Pm where Dr wanwei Roy Kharlukhi was elected as MP to Rajya Sabha as NPP candidate.
In the house of 60 members in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly MLA who caste thier vote are 59 one abstain. The NPP candidate secure 39 votes and Congress Candidate Mr Kennedy C Khriem got 19 vote and one vote was invalid.
The NPP candidate was supported by the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance who are 41 members in the collation Govt and Congress has 19 members in the house.
