Shillong, May 23: The organization HITO today has written to the Governor of Meghalaya Mr. Satya Pal Malik to urge Meghalaya Assembly Speaker to provide a white paper, initiate FIR and CBI inquiry on the construction project of the new Meghalaya Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang, new Shillong township.
In the letter HITO want to know the complete tender and bidding process including the criteria adopted such as experience, and turnover criteria for selecting the RajkiyaMirman Nigam Ltd which is implementing the prestigious project.
To provide the names of the companies who submitted their bids along with the list of the local representative of any of these selected companies, the list of members of the Tender, Finance Committee and their views and comments. The Recommendation notes if any of the Technical and Financial Officials.
They also question wWhy such large prestigious projects have not been handed over to the renowned Tata company or L&T which is executing the Vista Project of the PMO. Why were inexperienced incompetent officials appointed by Meghalaya Assembly to oversee such large prestigious projects.
HITO has asked the Governor to urge the Speaker to initiate an FIR and a CBI inquiry on the collapse of the dome which miraculous none of the laborers were injured and to enquire as to cost escalation or corruption if any in the allotment of work by the Meghalaya Assembly tender committee headed by the Speaker.
To urge Meghalaya Assembly Speaker to clarify if an independent agency like Tata Group or L&T will be appointed by the Meghalaya Assembly Secretariatto certify the quality and safety fitness of the new Meghalaya Assembly before inauguration and entry by MLAs, Officers, and Staff in this premises.
HITO urged the Governor Meghalaya to kindly direct the Speaker to immediately issue a white paper, file FIR and invite CBI on this entire shocking incident of alleged corruption in the Meghalaya Assembly leading to the collapse of the structure.
This is a serious concerns as to the safety fitness of the new Meghalaya Assembly in the ongoing construction of the prestigious Meghalaya Assembly where Governor would have to attend frequently, the letter was sign by Mr. Donbok Dkhar Presdient of the organization.
