Shillong: September 06: Motivated by the initiative of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Go Green’ idea, the IAF Milan Cycling Expedition, started on 29 Aug 16 from Kibitoo in Arunachal Pradesh which is the eastern most extremity of India on China border, and reached Chabua on 03 Sep 16. During its journey from Kibitoo, while covering a distance of 422 Kms, it passed through the difficult terrains of North-East while facing landslides and torrential rain.
The IAF Milan Cycling Expedition is a combined venture of all seven commands of the Air Force and Air HQ, wherein four teams from the extreme tips of Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western parts of the country had started in the month of Aug and the expedition will culminate at Delhi on 08 Oct 16 coinciding with the 84th Air Force Day Celebrations.
Team East was flagged off by Air Commodore BM Tyagi VSM on 06 Sep 16 for Delhi. The expedition will pass through the states of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar and UP. Team East will cover a total distance of 3137 Kms during its journey, and disseminate the message of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and “ Go Green Idea”.
