Jowai, 6th December, 2012: The Ialong Rural Tourism Project sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India through the District Administration of West Jaintia Hills District and the Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya and run by the Ialong Tourism Promotion Society and Dorbar Shnong Ialong was today inaugurated by W.M.S Pariat, Chief Secretary of Meghalaya.
W.M.S Pariat, Chief Secretary of Meghalaya in his inaugural address appreciated the tranquility and cleanliness maintained by the localities of Ialong Village, he said that it is an example to be set to other surrounding areas of the District as well in the State.
He called upon the local residents to keep in mind that the essence of hospitality is required to be able to attract more tourists to the area and this in turn will provide employment and income opportunity to the youths and the localities of Ialong Village as a whole.
F.S Kharkhongor, in is his short speech urge the people to continue to carry on the community Spirit and unified involvement that have been practiced all these years .
Among others who spoke on the occasion were the Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, P.S Dkhar and S. Mulieh. M.S Lahuid, Member of Ialong Tourism Promotion Society highlighted on the Tourism potentialities and Tourism initiatives of Ialong.
The Programme was chaired by TB. Shylla, Headman Ialong, while the Vote of Thanks was delivered by C. Lahuid, Member Ialong Tourism Promotion Society.(SP News)
