Jowai, April 28: The five NGO’s of Jaintia Hills, which include the SRS-EJH, AJYWO-CGB, KSU-JHDU, HNYF-EJZ and the FKJGP-KC, in their urgent meeting today have withdrawn their 48 hours total bandh in EJHD which they had already announced yesterday supposed to be effective from 5am of the 30th of this month till 5am of 2nd of next month, stating as unfortunate as it collides with the congregation of the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of India (PCI) which will be held at the Presbyterian Church, Laitumkhrah, Shillong from the 30th of this month till the 4th of next month.
The 5 NGO’s appeal to the public of East Jaintia Hills District and the people of North East India to bear with them on this sudden and unexpected withdrawal of the bandh as they have to respect each and every religions and faith in India. They stated that they had to suspend the already announced 48 hours total bandh in EJHD as many delegates from all over India and the General Assembly goers will be going to the congregation of PCI along the NH 44.
The leaders of the 5 NGO’s also stated in their press statement that they would never give up their fight against the adamant attitude of the NHAI and the government of Meghalaya to pressurize them to repair the dilapidated shape of the NH 44, warning them that they would soon again announce their fresh harsh agititational programmes within these few days to come to pressurize the concerned authorities of the government to meet their demand.
The five NGO’s also informs that they have accepted also the invitation of the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District, Sri WR Lyngdoh, inviting them to an official talk tomorrow at 2PM in his official chamber have a talk in view of the present deter rioted condition of the NH 44 and the 48 Hours bandh of the NGO’s. We will listen tomorrow what the government has to say against these burning issue in EJHD.(SP News)
