Shillong, July 07: The Chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma today told reported “ I have cross check with the political department, no engagement has take place between the centre and the state on uranium mining issue”.
The chief minister said that low and order is a state subject, if they (UCIL) are doing they are doing at their own risk, this is a sensitive issue without the state government concern they cannot do that. He said this after the queries made by reporter after the briefing on the cabinet meeting.
The Government will take action if anything happen after the UCIL has called for the expression of Interest as called by the UCIL. The opposition to uranium mining in the South West Khasi Hills has come from all quarters.
