Shillong, May 13: The Garo Hills base militant outfit today received a major blow when twenty four cadres surrender before the Chief Secretary KS Kropha government of Meghalaya at the police headed quarter, the group was led by an area commander Mr Chingnang who was also know as @ Nun.
The militant also surrender huge arms and ammunition in the present of the Meghalaya police , the name of the militant who surrender are, Hedeo Ch Momin @ Karak (34), Chingnang @ Nun, Sengrak M Marak@Dimbreng (24), Josbell Ch Marak@ Kising, Joshua N Marak@Oc@Jikal, Rakesh T Sangma, Elpiush M Sangma, @Sangbin, rakbat M Sangma@Malsin, Nikseng Ch sangma@Warrang, Juningbirth M Sangma@ Bandi (24), Chapret M Marak @ Lotip, Rikseng R Marak @ Big shot, Dohan M Marak, Golden M Sangma@ Sengsan, Laskar N Marak, Sylvanus G Momin, Tengkrang A Sangma, Rakman M Marak, Dominic R Marak, Francis M Sangma @ Mbi, Alpha Ch Marak @ Kengrik (22), Rikrak Ch Marak @ Salgrik (21), Lohon M Sangma @ Adu (25), Archie Ch Marak @ Kating (26).
In the counter operations in the year 2016 which includes operation hill storm – iii, 136 militants of GNLA have been arrested while 119 have surrendered so far. This year’s operations have also led to huge recovery of explosives which includes more than 1200 gelatin sticks and more than 1600 electronic and non-electronic detonators. In addition to these, more than 400 fuses connected with detonator caps have been recovered. 35 arms were recovered during operations. The GNLA cadres which have surrendered have also surrendered with more than 10 AK-47 and AK-56 series of weapons and a large number of small weapons and communication sets.
