Nongstoin, April 15: One male teacher in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills district has been terminated from the service for his alleged sexual harassment to the girl’s student.
The Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills Arunkumar Kemphavi, who is also Chairman of the JNV School, said that the FIR has not been but he has recommended the JNV Samiti Shillong to file an FIR against the teacher who was terminated from service.
The girl students were courageous enough to come forward to report the matter to one of our Executive Magistrates during routine inspection. Based on his initial inquiry report a committee was constituted comprising of Extra Assistant Commissioner, District Social Welfare Officer and Deputy Labour commissioner, West Khasi Hills district.
After the committee confirmed the harassment, the teacher was immediately terminated from the service. From the office of the Deputy Commissioner of West KHasi Hills District as a chairman has recommended the JNV Samiti Shillong to lodge an FIR against the teacher under relevant provisions of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO), 2012.
The Chairman of the JNV Nongstoin said that this should serve as a warning to all who think that they can get away with any kind of abuse and exploitation of children. And any children, who suffer such exploitation silently, come forward to inform, the law takes care of you.
