NE students hail IBSD initiative for organizing free Counselling for Higher Education

Shillong, May,26: Dr Najma Heptulla, Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, appreciated the initiative of Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), a National Institute of Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India, for taking special interest for guiding North east students for admissions in higher studies. She was speaking , while inaugurating the ‘ Free Awareness and Counselling Program for admissions to Undergraduate , Postgraduate and Doctoral Program for North East students’ organized by IBSD, at its main campus in Imphal today. She urged the students to take up various challenges as they are the future of the country. More than five hundred students and parents as well as teachers from different North eastern states of  India participated in the program.

Prof. Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director IBSD , who is also a Professor at University of Delhi, while addressing the students, congratulated the students who have successfully passed their Class XII examinations. Sahoo said the students from North east faces several problems in big cities during the admissions process and even more so for the parents, who have to spend a lot of money even before the admissions , for their travel and stay. Therefore, it is better to provide all the information here at home, so that the people don’t have to spend money for going to the cities before admissions.

In order to prepare the students to face the future challenges in big cites, he invited eminent educationists and Principals of top colleges of University of Delhi , to address the problems of the students.Prof Aditya Narayan Mishra (renowned educationist, University of Delhi), Prof Prakash Narayan (University of Delhi), Dr Pratibha Jolly (Principal of Miranda House, Delhi) ,  Dr P. Hemalatha Reddy (Principal of Sri Venkateshwara College, Delhi) , Dr M Arunjit Singh (Kalindi College) and  Dr M Ojit Singh (Ramjas College) deliberated upon the various matters about the admissions in University of Delhi.

The students and parents were also given individual counselling and information regarding the different courses, the admissions process, scholarships and accomodation options for Northeast students in Delhi. Prof Sahoo said that more of such programs will be organised in the future in different parts of North east so that good quality education and training, can be imparted to North east students towards building a new India.The students and parents expressed their happiness and thanked IBSD for such a noble gesture.
