Shillong, October 04: Rangdajied United FC beat Shillong Lajong FC by 1-0 today in the Gionee Shillong Premier League Match held at the JN Stadium Shillong. Rangdajied’s foreign striker James Moga scored the only goal of the match in the 12th minute.
Lajong youngsters could have equalized in the 25th minute but Milan’s shot went wide off the right post.In the 40th minute, Lajong got another chance to level the score but Isaac’s free kick was saved by the Rangdajied United keeper.
In the second half, Lajong continued to dominate the game and were combining very well with each other. The boys were pressing very hard in search of the equalizer. In the 52nd minute, Lalrammuana received a good ball from his teammate and headed into the net but he was in an offside position. Lajong kept on getting chances after chances and came very close to equalize in the 68th minute, but Samuela’s effort from outside the box was saved by the keeper.
Although the Lajong youngsters dominated today’s game and had plenty of chances in front of goal but were not able to convert those chances. It was a disappointing day for the Reds as they lost their first game in the Gionee SPL 2016 campaign.
Lajong remain at the top of the Gionee SPL table with 20 points and will play their next match against Meghalaya Police on the 8th October.
