SBI employee remains traceless search operation is on

Tura, Aug 6: Meghalaya police is yet to trace the whereabouts of SBI employee Subodh Kumar Mishra, who was abducted yesterday from Gasuapara in South Garo Hills.

Mishra was posted in the Gasuapara branch as an “Assistant”.

He was abducted by six unidentified gunmen, while he was on his way back to Barengapara on motor bike. Police suspect it to be a handiwork of A’chik Songna An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK) outfit.

“Search operation to rescue Mishra is on”, said Lakador Syiem, superintendent of police, South Garo Hills.

Assistant General Manager (Garo hills division), Nixon Joseph said, “We are in touch with the police to ensure his safe release”.  He has appealed the abductors to release Mishra on humanitarian grounds.

“Kidnapping of SBI official will affect the morale of both official and clerical staffs”, Joseph added.

On June 16, Arvind Kumar, SBI branch manager of Ampati in South West Garo Hills was abducted from Garobadha. He was rescued by police unharmed in an operation on June 18.(SP News)
