Shillong, August 10: On the occasion of the forthcoming Independence Day, a Military Equipment Display was organised on 9th August 2016 at Shillong to make the general public aware of the Indian Army, its equipment and create awareness about the armed forces in general.
With the designated theme of “know your forces”, the event not only showcased the weapons and equipment, but a scintillating display by military band captivated the spectators. The event was well received by the local populace, especially children who turned out in large numbers.
Besides a display of military hardware, information kiosks for recruitment into the Indian Army was also part of the exhibition to generate awareness about the Army and bolster interest among youngsters, and to fortify the confidence of people in the good intent of the Army and motivate the North East youth to join the Defence Force.
