The BSF nabs nine Bangladeshi national in Garo Hills

 Shillong, May 13: The BSF troops deployed at Mahadev, South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya in a special ambush, apprehended nine Bangladeshi and two Indian national while a suspected movement was noticed in a Mahindra pick-up vehicle near village Noketgre during Thursday midnight. The apprehended Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Samiran Marak ( 35 yrs), Hilllul Marak, (28 yrs), Barshes Saku, (28 yrs), Newton Sangma (17 Yrs), Nirbhay Sangma (Age- 29 Yrs),  Mitro Marak (Age- 25 Yrs), Prabhat Manda Sangma (Age- 28 Yrs), Loyar Marak( Age- 40 Yrs), and Ritar Rangsa Marak( Age- 17). Two Indian nationals  namely Subrato Marak(Age- 25) and Rakshingh Marak( 29 Yrs), were also apprehended from the spot.

They were helping Bangladeshi nationals for their movement in crossing the International Boundary with Mahindra pick-up vehicle. During frisking Indian Currency Rs.11,280/- recovered from their possession. It was revealed that all of them had come to India in search of work in coal mines of Meghalaya. They had been working in coal quarries at Nagal-Bibra area since few days but were not paid the wages.

In this regard BSF has lodged a strong protest against illegal crossing by Bangladeshi nationals after violating the sanctity of International Boundary and also requested the Border Guard Bangladesh to issue necessary instructions to their ground Commanders to take steps to prevent and curb illegal movement of BD nationals into Indian territory. Till date BSF has apprehended 95 BD nationals who had crossed IB illegally during current year. Apprehended person and along with seized items handed over to concerned authority for further legal action.
