The BSF nabs three drug traffickers on the International Border with Bangladesh

Shillong, June 24: The BSF troops deployed at Barsora, South West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya noticed a suspicious movement on International border when three persons were coming on a bike on border road from Gumaghat towards Barsora. The BSF party stopped and frisked them.

The suspicious persons tried to escape but BSF troops nabbed them and recovered R-7 Tablets Yaba – 193 Nos from their possession.  They have been identified as one Mahindra Sangma , Patus Sangma ,  Loveling Sangma  all are Resident of  Mawphyllun village of South West Khasi Hills District. The BSF also seized one motor cycle Bajaj Discover without number plate. They revealed before BSF of taking over the consignment from one Lein Akhongre,Tura at Police Bazar Shillong and further reaching at Mawphyllun to deliver the consignment to an unknown BD coal importer.

In another incident, the cautious BSF troops deployed at Jankhol in South Garo Hills Distt of Meghalaya recovered a bag containing 125 Btls of phensedyle. This  phensedyle was being smuggled to Bangladesh. The smugglers were trying to throw the consignment over the fence and pre-intimated Bangladeshi smugglers had to collect the same consignment but BSF troops foiled their attempt.

It is mentioned that the codeine-laced cough syrup is consumed in Bangladesh in large quantities, against the recommended small doses, to get a kick. With the consumption of alcohol prohibited in Bangladesh, Phensedyl addiction has been on the rise.

The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent such illegal transporting of liquor along International Border in Meghalaya by launching special ops Alert before Eid festival.
