Shillong, July 30: The children of SPARK Mawlynrei Center got an opportunity for Educational Field Trip to Don Bosco Museum and NEHU Science Centre.
Understanding the importance and as a part of socialization away from classroom environment, SPARK realized that taking students into a new environment would give them the experience of travelling in a group and teach them to be respectful of the locations they visit.
Further the students get an opportunity to visit a place to which they have never been before, especially in the cases of underprivileged. Also, field trips can be particularly advantageous to students who are less fortunate and don’t have the opportunity to travel.
Thus, an initiative was undertaken by SPARK to take the underprivileged children and adult students from its Mawlynrei Centre for an educational field trip to Don Bosco Mawlai Museum, NEHU Science Centre and Golflink.
The entire initiative was sponsored by Shri. Highlander Kharmalki, Ex-Executive Engineer to whom SPARK is earnestly grateful for providing such a wonderful experience to the target group. We are also thankful to NEHU Science Centre for providing free entry to the Centre. Further we take this opportunity to also thank the Director of Don Bosco Museum for allowing the children to enter the museum at a very nominal price as and when approached.
There were all together 56 participants (children & adult students) who enjoyed and experienced the trip along with teachers and volunteers. It was indeed the first ever such opportunity received by the target group as they hardly get any such platform to experience the outdoor environment full of joy and fun, as they have to work to support themselves and their family. This field trip succeeded in giving them a break from their work and live a carefree life free from all burden of work.
During the trip, the students found that they could learn more about the subjects on which the trip focused. The importance of Educational trips includes giving students the chance to build closer bonds with their classmates, experience new environments and enjoy a day away from the classroom
It was a successful trip as it succeeded in bringing smile on the faces of the target group and a new hope in their lives towards positive changes to which they too are entitled to.
