SHILLONG, July 14: Four young talents from the city out of which three are associated with the Future Dance Academy (FDA) have been selected for the level 3 audition of the Dance Superstar Kids competition at Kolkata slated to take place 17 July this month.
The auditions for the competition was held in Shillong at Aurobindo hall on 8 July in which out of 70 kids vying for a place in the competiti2on only 4 was selected from the city.
However three dancers from the FDA were selected namely Kenneth Mawlong aged 10 from Laban, Chad Michel Kharwanlang aged 10 from Sohra and Pynshngainlang Kharbuli aged 9 from Mawlai Phutmawri .
Addressing a press conference here today, lead teacher and founder of the academy Mickey Paul L Mawlong appealed to the masses for sponsorship by stating that the expenditure for the competition amounts to Rs. 25, 000.
“We have approached local representatives and even locality dorbar however we have yet to avail any sponsorship despite the fact that this is a huge platform to showcase the talents of our youths from the state,” he said.
The Dance Superstar Kids competition is for kids in the age group between 5 to 12 year old.
“If we are unable to avail any sponsorship for the competition then we will have to take out a loan from our own pocket so as the kids who have gained access to the next round does not lose hope,” he said.
A mother of one of the kids selected for the level 3 audition in Kolkata said, “I have approach local representative and even the Dorbar shnong but to no avail and I want to appeal to the state government to support the younger generation in order to uplift their talents especially since there is a lack of employment in the state.”
