The Governor of  Assam inaugurates ‘Emerging North East 2020’ organized by ASSOCHAM

Guwahati, Feb 27: Emerging North East 2020 organized by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM)  had a great start with Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam, inaugurating the Expo at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati today.

The event was also graced over by Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of industries & Commerce, Govt. of Assam as the guest of honor. Emerging North East is being held from 27th February to 29th February 2020 and is supported by Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Skill Development and the Government of Assam.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam said, “The North Eastern Region has immense natural resources, accounting for 34% of the country’s water resources and almost 40% of India’s hydropower potential.

 

The NER is strategically located with access to the traditional domestic market of eastern India, along with proximity to the major states in the east and adjacent countries such as Bangladesh and Myanmar.

 

The region is also a vantage entry point for the Southeast Asian markets. This resource-rich region, with its vast expanse of fertile farmland and huge untapped human capital, has the potential to be India’s most prosperous region.
