Shillong, July 03: The Garo Student Union had sent the message to the Garo Hills Progressive alliance who were ruling in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council(GHADC) to remove the two MDC for their Chairman post that was appointed in the District council.
In the statement issued by the additional general secretary of the student union Mr Balrang Raka Ch momin, comdem the move of the Garo hills progressive alliance to accommodate Mr S.G Esmature Mominin of shyamnagar constituency as Chairman planning and Mr Sofior Rehaman of Balachanda constituency as Chairman of the Bakkjai, subcommittee respectively.
The president of the GSU Mr Tensang Momin told SP News Agency from Garo Hills said that “ it was only in Garo Hills Autonomous District Council where non Garos are elected as MDC, while others District Council, like KHADC and JHADC in the same state of Meghalaya they do not have MDCs who were non khasi”.
He said from the GSU they will soon meet the Chief Executive Member on the issued and discuss with him not to appoint any non Garos MDCs in the hight post in the GHADC, he even also said that this is not only the demand of the GSU but also the demand from others organisation in Garo Hills.
