Shillong, September 08: In spite of the agitation taken by the conglomeration of all the NGOs from East and South Garo Hills under the Garo Student’s Union (GSU) demanding from the state government and the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited that (MeECL) should replace the transformer at the Nangalbibra Grid Sub-Station went in vain.
The GSU once again submitted the memorandum to the Executive Engineer Transmission and Transformation Division Tura demanding that the MeECL should immediately replace the transformer 12.5 132/33 kv that was broken down on the month of August 2016, which the corporation has not been able to restored till date.
In this memorandum sign by the president of the GSU Southern Zone Mr Chuba R Marak and Walbinath CH Marak General secretary, said that the Civil Hospital in Williamnagar and Baghmara were affected for interrupted power supply. The hospital faces problem due to low voltage even the fans cannot function.
In the memorandum they have stated that, even the day today functioning of the government officers were affected since there is no proper power supply, in this two District, particularly in the town of Baghmara and Williamnagar where business activities has been affected too.
The final examination of students is drowning nearer, the GSU demanded that the MeECL should immediately replay the transformer that has broken down with the new one sine the people of South And East Garo hills drown the line for power supply from this sub Grid for the two District.
