Shillong, November 30: The Meghalaya AIDS Control Society will be organising the State Level Observation of World AIDS Day under the theme: “Hands up for #HIVPrevention” on 1st December, 2016 at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong from 10:00 AM onwards.
Dr. D. Lyngdoh, Director of Health Services (MCH & FW) and Joint Mission Director, National Health Mission will grace the State Level Observation as Chief Guest.
The event will feature the AIDS Logo Competition, Blood Donation camp, Candle Light vigil and We Are One-Concert for World AIDS Day.
Every year, 1st December is observed as World AIDS Day so as to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate International solidarity in the face of the pandemic. On this day Government and health officials, NGOs and other Organizations come together to address the issue of HIV and AIDS and to spread awareness about the status of the pandemic and encourage progress in its prevention, treatment and care in high prevalence countries and around the world.
