Shillong, June 28: A need based inputs and essential items distribution programme was conducted for tribal farmers of Umroi, Meghalaya under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) at ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam on 28-06-2021 under the leadership of Dr. V K Mishra, Director.
The MLA of Umroi constituency Shri George Bakyntiewlang Lyngdoh and BDO, Bhoirymbong, Shri CJK Warjri were present for the occasion. Nodal officer of TSP, Dr. Hazarika, Heads of the Divisions, Dr. Baruah and Dr.N Uttam Singh, Chief administrative officer, Shri Agnihotri, Sr. FAOShriGaruangaGhosh, Asstt. FAO, ShriDebnathand Scientist, Dr. AmitKumar, were also present for the distribution of essential items.
The programme was conducted abiding with the Covid 19 protocols. Agricultural and need based inputs were handed over to the BDO, Bhoirymbong, Shri CJK Warjri for their distribution to the farmers.
Director, Dr. V K Mishra pointed out that the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID) has affected the poor farmers of Meghalaya in the unprecedented ways. In this regard, poor farmers need to be supplemented with need based agricultural inputs and essential items in order to fight the pandemic situations.
With this noble motive Nodal officer of TSP, Dr.SamrendraHazarika formulated the input distribution programme under the aegis of Dr. V K Mishra, Director.The effort of Nodal officer of TSP, Dr.SamrendraHazarika in formulation of this programme was highly appreciated by the recipients.
The MLA of Umroi constituency Shri George Bakyntiewlang Lyngdoh stressed on various ways in order to support the poor farmers. He pointed out that agricultural inputs can boost the agricultural production and productivity in this pandemic situation.
Mr. CJK WarjriBDO, Bhoirymbong, emphasised on the cumulative efforts in order to overcome the situation. Chief administrative officer, ShriAgnihotrigave the formal vote of thanks. The input distribution programme will highly benefit the needy farmers.
