The MLCU announced as finalist in the the 7th eNabling NE Development Award 2019-2020

Shillong, June 25: The 7th eNabling North East Development (eNorth East) Award 2019-2020 organized by the North East Development Foundation (NEDF) and Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) and supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as one of the knowledge partners announced the winners across various categories on June 20, 2020 .

The nomination process which began in October 2019 to identify, recognize and promote sustainable development initiatives in the region, culminated with presentations made by the short-listed finalists in a three day virtual jury event and a plenary on “Sustaining the Pursuit of UN SDGs Post in Covid-19 North East India”.

The Centre for Gender Equity and Diversity Education and Research (GENDER), Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Meghalaya was selected as a finalist in the category Gender Equality and Social Inclusion for its project on “Gender, reproductive health and life skills education for university students: broader effects on faculty, academics, policy and community”.

The Centre for GENDER, MLCU, Shillong was represented by Dr. R. Jennifer War, Head of Centre and Dean, Academics and Dr. Lavinia Mawlong, Assistant Professor, Centre for GENDER. In her talk, Dr. Monisha Behal, CEO, North East Network (NEN) stressed upon the fact that achieving Gender Equality (UN SDG Goal 5) cuts across all sectors and must be addressed in convergence with other critical factors of empowerment.
