The MLCU under take Free Eye check up at Kongdhulu villege in Ri Bhoi District

Shillong May 20: Community Outreach activities is a huge part of Martin Luther Christian University’s curriculum, with community camps, outreach programmes, and many such activities, the University always strives towards instilling in all its students the importance of community and the need to contribute to the society.

The students 4th Semester, Bachelor of Social Work, of the Department of Social Work of Martin Luther Cristian University, today organized a free eye check-up for the village of Kdonghulu and its neighboring villages located in Umsning, Ri Boi district. The free Eye Check up was done in collaboration with Bansara EyeCare, and sponsored by the NSS MLCU unit.

Kdonghulu is a village of 50 households with the population of approximately 280, the population of children with age 0-6 makes up 13% of total population of village while the average sex ratio of Kdonghulu village is 1100 which is higher than Meghalaya state average of 989.

The Students of Department of Social Work are always placed in communities throughout the state so as to be able to get firsthand experience about the real life issues, concerns and problem in the society that would require the need of a Social Worker.
