The NGHTCA announced a two-day poster campaign against the Govt for nonpayment of bills

SHILLONG, August 10: The North Garo Hills Tribal Contractors’ Association (NGHTCA) on Wednesday announced a two-day poster campaign from August 17 to 18, to protest against the state government’s failure to clear over Rs 24 crore bills pending with PWD and PHE departments.

The decision was taken at the executive meeting of the NGHTCA held on Tuesday after the expiry of its 15-day deadline served earlier to the state government.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, association general secretary Sengnab Momin said, “We have unanimously decided to organize a poster campaign for two days from August 17 to August 18 in Resubelpara Division.”

He said the association strongly condemned the attitude of the government for its failure to listen  to the demand of the contractors. “The state government has failed to respond to the15-day ultimatum that was submitted through the Deputy Commissioner North Garo Hills, to release the pending bills,” Momin said.
