Shillong, March 18: Meghalaya Commissioner Home and Police Mr. C.V.D Diengdoh visited the affected students in Karnataka in the District of Mandya where he met the district official to know the actual reason of the incident that led to the loss of lives.
The Government of Meghalaya has deputed its official to Karnataka on the incident incident of food poisoning which took place in Mandya District of Karnataka, it is informed that the State Team comprising of officials from Education Department reached the place of occurrence and took a stock of the situation.
The team met the District Magistrate of Mandya District and also visited the hospital where the students belonging to Meghalaya are being given medical care.
They also visited the residential school where the incident took place and met all the stakeholders. The team will be submitting their report to the Education Department subsequently.
Mr. Cyril V Diengdoh, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary, Home (Police) Department, Govt of Meghalaya also reached the spot accompanied by the District Administration and Police Officials.
The District Magistrate Dr Kumar, IAS apprised him that the Police Investigation is going on in full swing and already 03 people have been arrested including the school owner and hostel warden. The senior Medical Officers of the Hospital were also present to brief him on the status of the students from Meghalaya.
In an unfortunate development, one student who was in critical condition since last few days and who was referred to a higher medical facility passed away last night. All other 22 students from Meghalaya are in stable condition and are being monitored closely.
