The Supreme Court listed for hearing the petition file by NESO against the CCA tomorrow

Shillong, March 18: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) today the 18th March 2024, has filed a Petition in the Supreme Count of India, challenging the Rules of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 with a submission to the Supreme Court to issue a stay on its implementation of CAA.

Speaking to SP News Agency the Chairman of NESO Mr. Samuel Jyrwa confirm that the petition field from the students body of, the Supreme Court of India has listed for haring of the case tomorrow Wednesday 19/3/2024.

It may also be reminded that NESO, has filed a Petition in the Supreme Count of India in 19th Dec 2019 against the CAA 2019. Even though, CAA 2019 has exempted the ILP covered states which include Mizoram, Negaland , Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur  and also the 6th Scheduled covered areas.

The  schedule area include 98% of Meghalaya, 70% of Tripura and 8  districts of Assam but the 27 districts of Assam are not exempted poses a serious threat to the entire North Eastern states future.

Implementation of CAA will be adversely affected already affected by microscopic indigenous communities of NE which are unabated influx of illegal migrants from Bangladesh, it is imperative that the CAA 2019 should not be made applicable as it will worsen the already precarious situation of the North Eastern Region, said Mr. Samuel Jyrwa Chairman NESO.
