Tura, December 02: The two day winter youth festival 2016 an annual event which ushers in pre-Christmas revelry and celebration – the Winter Youth Festival 2016 – would be organized on 7th December (Wednesday) and 8th December (Thursday) , 2016 in Dikki Bandi Stadium , Dakopgre , Tura . The inaugural function with Hon’ble Chief Minister as Chief Guest tentatively shall be on 7th December at 3 PM followed by the inauguration of the stalls .
The twin highights of this year’s festival will be the international musical choir Mind Education from South Korea that shall perform on 8th December from 5 pm to 7pm with a scintillating musical,vocal and cultural extravaganza and an interesting and curious Narang (citrus) Festival on the sidelines by the Agriculture-Horticulture Department in collaboration with IBDLP which is organizing a FARPE Farmers’ Agriculture & Related Products Expo exhibition in the same venue .
While the choir performance shall have a Korean Fan Dance and a gospel band called Rio Montana to enthral audiences the exhibition of Narang Festival and FARPE shall showcase and celebrate the rich indigenous diversity of fruits of Garo Hills especially of the citrus variety and showcase produce and products of farmers .
The Youth Winter Festival shall have several stalls arranged for the concerned line departments like Agriculture , Horticulture , Veterinary , Handloom ,Sericulture & Weaving , Fisheries IBDLP , Tourism , Art & Culture , DCIC , NERCORMP , Swachh Bharat Mission , DRDA to put up promotional and awareness material ,exhibits and products . There shall also be some food and cake stalls .
There shall be “Forever Country”- A Musical Tribute which is musical tribute to the Country music legends which will be on 7th December itself after the inaugural – at 6 pm . On the sidelines photography contest shall begin with stalls display .On the 8th there shall be dancing competition and karaoke since morning and Korean Choir “Music Festival with Mind Education” which is an international troupe who shall perform at 5pm on 8th December , 2016 followed by a closing peace concert on the same day at 7pm . Various government schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission , IBDLP , CM Youth for Green and CM Career Guidance Scheme shall be co-sponsoring the two day festivities .
The two day festival also shall try its best to drive away demonetization blues by arranging buyers -sellers meet through the twin exhibitions of Narang Festival and FARPE which people can buy with confidence and sellers have an opportunity to showcase and sell their products especially organic and farm sector as well as decoration items .
