Shillong, Dec 03: Thousands of clan members or Warjri clan attended the Twenty Third Annual Convention of Seng Kur Warjri was held on Saturday 30th November, 2019 at Umsning Community Hall.
The introductory address was delivered by Mr D L Warjri, President and conducted by Mr Sunshine Warjri, General Secretary in the presence of eminent members of the clan including Mr P Barkos O Warjri, former Chief Secretary and the present Chief Information Officer of the Government of Meghalaya, Mr Riewad V Warjri, fondly called Rudy Warjri, retired envoy of the Government of India that had served in some countries around the world.
During the morning session there was a talk on family management system delivered by Mrs Balasuk Warjri. She rendered certain human values among the children and their relation with parents and vice-versa. In the annual convention there was a clarion call on every clan belonging to the same ancestry to attend the convention, which include the War Nongjri, War Nongbri, War Tynghah, War Wahksing bad War Manai.
Inthe afternoon session, there were entertainment programmes of songs from the clan members representing different region of Khasi Pnar territory. Thereafter there was a felicitation programme to meritorious members of the clan that have excelled in their respective career.
They comprise of Dr Susan Moore Warjri, completed her PhD in Bio-Chemistry, Dr Anterwell Warjri, PhD in Political Science, Ms Haliness Warjri, MSc First Class Second Position, Ms Pdianghun Warjri, MA Political Science and Gold Medalist, and among the sportspersons are Obenas Warjri in Kick Boxing, Josephine Warjri in Muathai and in arts and culture, Mr Raphael Warjri, Artist Playwright for the nomination at the International Indigenous Theatre Festival 2015, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The convention have also elected the new office bearers, which included D L Warjri, President, George A Warjri and Kyrsoi Warjri as Vice Presidenst, Sunshine Warjri, General Secretary, Shining Star Warjri and Rajesh Warjri as Joint Secretaries, Mrs Benica Warjri, Treasurer, Raphael Warjri, Publicity Secretary, besides the Executive Members, Mr Prosper Warjri, Lorenzo P Warjri, Bah Kestar Warjri, Hedwin Warjri.
Rodson Warjri, Cordelia Warjri, R V Warjri, Ratar Warjri, Victor Warjri, Harkin Warjri, Anterwell Warjri, Medral Warjri, Portia Warjri, P B O Warjri among the maternal uncles and Mrs Wonmai Warjri, Middlemon Warjri, Bethel Warjri among the mothers; Mrs Kong Jeanita Warjri, Auditor and Mr G S Warjri as the Adviser. The gathering was concluded by the group song by the main leaders of the clan organisation.
