Two-Day International Conference on ‘NEP 2020′ teaching, education, underway at NEHU

Shillong, March 18: The Department of Education at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, in collaboration with Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal, and the Council of Educational Administration and Management (CEAM), proudly inaugurated the esteemed International Conference on ‘NEP 2020: Teaching, Education, and New Learning Technology’ today at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium, NEHU.

The inaugural session was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. P.S. Shukla, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of NEHU, who presided over the ceremony and inspired the participants with his motivational words. Prof. Brinda BazeleyKharbirymbai, Head of the Department of Education at NEHU and Convener of the conference, extended a warm welcome to all the guests.

The Chief Guest of the session, Prof. Neelima Gupta, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of H.S. GourViswavidyalay, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, emphasized the significance of such conferences in updating knowledge related to teaching and learning, particularly in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). Shri Fedrick Roy Kharkongor, IAS, Commissioner, and Secretary of the Government of Meghalaya, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

Distinguished scholars including Prof. Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, and Prof. Saroj Sharma, Chairperson of NIOS, delivered the keynote addresses during the inaugural session. They enlightened the participants about the challenges and opportunities presented by the NEP 2020 for successful implementation.

Dr.Babli Choudhury, co-convener of the conference, shared that over 30 experts from various institutions and universities across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Austria deliberated on various aspects of the NEP 2020 throughout the two-day conference.

The event witnessed the participation of more than 200 PG students, research scholars, and faculty members, who presented a total of 150 research papers both online and offline.

Expressing gratitude to all participants and collaborators, Dr.RihunlangRymbai, Associate Professor at NEHU, proposed the vote of thanks, marking the conclusion of the inaugural session.

The International Conference on ‘NEP 2020: Teaching, Education, and New Learning Technology’ promises to be a platform for insightful discussions and knowledge exchange, aimed at fostering innovation and excellence in education in line with the visionary NEP 2020.
