“Assam Rifles CAPF Under 19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament” organized by AR

 

Shillong, April 25: The  Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Meghalaya Football Association is organizing the Football Tournament, with intent to promote Football amongst the Youth in Meghalaya. The Force is also conducting similar tournament in the States of Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram.

As you all are aware, India will be hosting the U/17 FIFA Football World Cup in October this year. It will be the largest event in Indian sporting history. While emphasizing the successful hosting of the event, Hon’ble Prime Minister had said that this alone cannot be our final objective, and that the FIFA Under 17 World Cup must be a catalyst for change, the tipping point for football in the country, which can only done by creating a mass movement around it with the ultimate objective being to give an opportunity to every child of the country to play football. Hon’ble Prime Minister desired that in addition to supporting the children, every parent and teacher should encourage boys and girls to play football and develop both skill and fitness.

Accordingly in the run up to the Under 17 FIFA World Cup to be held in India in October 2017, Central Armed Police Forces, viz. Assam Rifles ,BSF, SSB, ITBP, CRPF, CISF,under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs and with assistance from All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB), are organising an All India Football tournament named ‘Oorja – CAPF U/19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament, 2017’ with the active engagement of over 12500 young U/19 boys and girls with more than 1200 matches being played during the course of 3 months in 3 phases across the country.
