Shillong, April 04: The AICC General Secretary Shri Luzinho Faleiro’s concern to boost the sagging morale of the State Congress at a time when its top national leaders are deserting the Party like rats abandoning a sinking ship, is quite understandable. But to speak of glowingly the failed MP Shri Vincent Pala’s performance “in the front of development and progress” is to twist facts and draw wool over the eyes of the electorate.
To take one example, the four laning of the G.S Road was part of the BJP’s concept of world-class express ways connecting the whole of India, and much of the work in other parts of the country had already been complete when the NDA laid down office in 2014.
Shri Faleiro has conveniently forgotten to explain why the G.S Road project has not been completed during the ten years of UPA. It bears mention that the Congress Party had almost sabotaged the project when the then Chief Minister, Shri Lapang had declared and which was duly reported at the time , that the G.S Road would be a two-lane and not a four-lane highway.
It is a wonder that Shri Faliero has not claimed credit for creating the DONER ministry. The people of Meghalaya are fully aware of the performance of the Water Resources minister .And to exhort the people to vote him back is an insult to their others ability to discern.
The innuendo behind the reference to the Gujarat model of development is characteristic of the Party Shri Faleiro’s represents. Can not one speak in a similar vein of the Congress model and refer to the slaughter of no less than 4000 Sikhs in1984, and the late Shri Rajiv Gandhi blocking discussions on it in Parliament? Shri Faleiros voice is not of truth and reason but of desperation.
That it should come hard on the heels of his Party President, Smite Sonia Gandhi’s open appeal to the Imam of a Masjid to influence Muslim votes in their favor, an act that has been widely condemned throughout the country, fully exposes Shri Faleiro and his party’s pretentions about secularism.
