The BJYM has also apprised the Chief Secretary regarding the construction of the Integrated Check Post in Jaintia Hills.

“Till today there has not been any step taken by the state government to reduce the number of weighbridge in Khasi and Jaintia Hills despite the Supreme Court having issued a directive to the government of Meghalaya to cut down on the number of weighbridge in the state,” Egenstar said.

Observing that the presence of several coal weighbridges has created numerous inconveniences for truck drivers, the BJYM leader said, “The presence of many weighbridges poses a great problem for the truck drivers because for the same material they have to weigh in countless places.”
