BSF seized 56 cattle at Balughat, Beldova and Rithingpara, SWGH district of Meghalaya

Shillong, April 16: Once again the cattle smuggling to Bangladesh has been unearthed when the alert BSF troops seized 56 cattle at Balughat, Beldova and Rithingpara, South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. The cattle worth more than 4 Lacs, were seized while being smuggled into Bangladesh from India. The cattle smugglers have been trying to smuggle cattle desperately to Bangladesh with various tactics but presence of the alert BSF troops on International Border always foiled such illicit activities.

It is mentioned that the cattle smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya seems getting more rampant, despite the Border Security Force foiling these attempts effectively. The primary motivation is of course high profit. The demand supply equation keeps the price of cattle quite high in Bangladesh. The Border Security Force has been putting extra efforts to curb this illegal act by placing additional manpower and special equipment at the Border.

The BSF has seized 163 Nos cattle, and contraband items worth more than Rs. 24 Lacs, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the International Border along Meghalaya during last four days.All the seized items handed over to concerned department for further legal action.
