Four BSF of Meghalaya Frontier conferred with police medals for meritorious service

Shillong, August 18: Four Border Security Force personnel of Meghalaya frontier has been conferred upon with Police Medals for Meritorious Service on the 74th Independence Day celebration, they are, Mohammed Ibrahim, Assistant Commandant , 43 BN BSF, Inspector Commander  Narender Kumar, 11 BN BSF, Inspector  GD Mukesh Kumar, 11 BN BSF and CT/Cook B.C Kapali, SHQ BSF Jowai.

Police Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to the Police personnel every year on the occasion of Independence and Republic Day in recognition of the meritorious record in Police service or in the Central Police and  Security Organization with at least 15 years of service.

The Meghalaya Frontier BSF celebrated 74nd Independence Day at Frontier Headquarter, Meghalaya with `Flag Hoisting’ by Mr. Kuldeep Saini, Inspector General, Ftr HQ BSF Meghalaya. Battalions and Sectors under command of this Ftr also celebrated this auspicious day at their respective locations, keeping in mind of the novel corona virus pandemic and ensuring all the protocols.

In the celebration apart from Flag hoisting, bada khana and sweet distribution, various events such as route march, tree plantation, evacuation drill, Border management drill and gifting sweets to counterpart (BGB) are organised at various headquarters and the BOPs. All these activities are organised by maintaining proper social distancing, wearing mask, ensuring proper hygiene as per the protocol of the novel corona virus.

On the occasion, indebted to the Nation and with the spirit of serving the mankind, more than 300 BSF personnel who have recovered from covid-19 infection have come forward to donate their plasma. In this regard, BSF is in close coordination with NEIGHRIMS and soon plasma therapy will take final shape. Applauding their efforts, Inspector General BSF Meghalaya stated that “Every Blood Plasma donor is a life saver”.

The BSF despite battling covid-19 pandemic, in order to ensure heightened security and vigil at the International border, has launched special Ops alert for which manpower at all the BOPs has been  augmented by sending additional troops from Headquarters.

In a press release Mr. U.K Nayal DIG/PRO BSF Meghalaya said that BSF troops are guarding the border in spite of tough and treacherous terrain defying the weather conditions in remote areas of Meghalaya. He also wished the people of Meghalaya on this auspicious Day and wished them good health and peace in days to come.
