Leader of opposition Dr Mukul visited flood affected area, 30000 household were affected

Shillong, July 20: The Leader of the opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly visited the flood affected areas of West Garo Hills District and interacts with the affected people in his visit.

Dr Mukul and Dr Azad Zaman visited thus flood affected areas in the constituency of Sesella, Rajabala, Pulbari, Trikikkila and Mahendaganj. The cause of the flood is due to the back water overflow from the Brahmaputra River.

Talking to SP News Agency Dr Zaman who accompanied the Leader of opposition said that 30000 household were affected by the flood and the plantation that were submerge under water are  jute cultivation, Maize, Sali paddy, Banana plantation and live stock were affected.

The Government has provided one week ration to all thus people who were staying in relief campy set up from the District administration. Dr Zaman urged the government to provide essential commodities for another’s one week since people are already facing economic hardship due to this COVID-19 pandemic.
