Notices have been served to all shops and establishments to remain open tomorrow in Tura

Shillong. October 18: The Deputy Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Political Department has informed that the attention of the State Government has been drawn to the call for closure of shops and establishments in Tura by GSU on 19th October, 2016 at 5 AM to 5 PM to condole the death of a teenager at Rishipara.

Elaborate arrangements have been made by the District Administration and police to ensure peace and tranquillity and maintain law and order. As the call for closure is in violation of the order passed by the Hon’ble High Court and also violates the order under Section 144 CrPC passed by the District Magistrate, West Garo Hills District, hence, FIR has been lodged by the Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills District.

Notices have been served to all shops and establishments to remain open on the 19th October, 2016. A meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner, Tura on 18th October, 2016 at 5:00 PM involving all stakeholders to sensitize and assure business establishments and civil society about the order of High Court and steps taken for safety and security of all the people in Tura.

Magistrates and police teams will be covering all sensitive locations under videography. In the meantime, a magisterial inquiry is already underway to probe all aspects of the case and police has also instituted a departmental inquiry headed by the Additional SP level officer.
