Railway Protection Force of N. F.Railway recovered explosive materials from Lumding RS

Maligaon, March 9: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F. Railway on March 7, 2022 recovered a huge cache of explosive materials including gelatin sticks and fuse wire from Lumding Railway Station.

There are 580 pieces of gelatin sticks and three coils of fuse wire were recovered during joint search conducted by RPF and GRP staff of Lumding. One person was also arrested for alleged involvement in transportation of the explosive materials.

 The suspicious consignment came to the notice of joint team of RPF comprising of Sub-Inspector D. S. Rajpoot and GRP staff of Lumding on 7th March, 2022, during their checking at Lumding Railway Station against anti-social elements.

In the course of checking on PF No. 04, they noticed one person loitering suspiciously along with a bag near the waiting room. Sub-Inspector D. S. Rajpoot approached the person and asked for checking his bag; but the person failed to reply properly.

On checking the bag, 29 packets wrapped in plastic containing 20 sticks each, i.e. total 580 pieces of sticks, which are suspected to be gelatin with three coiled of fuse wire, were found.

On further interrogation, the person admitted that he was carrying the material from Shillong to Dimapur. He also disclosed his name as Johanming Thangsang Parate, resident of Muolhoi, Haflong. He was taken into custody. Later, the apprehended person along with the recovered explosive substance was handed over to OC/GRP/Lumding for further legal action.

The RPF of N. F. Railway has intensified surveillance at stations and trains to detect anti-social activities & elements. CCTV surveillance systems have been provided at identified stations; metal detectors, baggage scanners have also been installed at stations with high footfalls to curb transportation of explosive materials
